Hii 🙂 I love writing book reviews, so I’m trying my hardest to read as much as my life will allow me so I can tell you all about them! I recently read ‘you’ by Caroline kepnes 🙂
When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.
There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.
As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.
This book is a really really good read… Though I will say it’s strange.. It’s told from the point of view of joe, who works in a book store. He starts stalking a girl who came into the store one day, he manages to hack her social media and emails, and in his head, they are suddenly ‘together’.
Its weird because it kind of sucks you in, and at times you have sympathy for joe, when you kind of know you shouldn’t really, which was a really strange feeling.
Overall it’s a definite must read! Though I think in places it could of been tweeked slightly to make it a tad better. Also the ending wasn’t what I expected (but not in a good way).
Have you read ‘you’? What are your thoughts? Let me know 🙂
