As human beings we all have certain clothing items that we naturally gravitate towards when getting ready in the mornings and these items tend me end up being staple pieces which continually get worn. Basically what I would class as my wardrobe essentials. I wanted to share with you what mine were, not only because it creates a basis for your wardrobe but also may inspire you have have a wardrobe re think and think about what your wardrobe essentials are and what clothing from your wardrobe you actually wear.
1. Black Jeans
Black jeans or jeans in general are an item which everyone wears but for me they’re something I am instantly drawn to. I personally love skinny jeans, mainly because they suit my body shape the best but any staple pair of jeans do the job. Jeans are such an easy versatile piece which can be worn in many different ways which is important in a piece of clothing. When you spend the money on an item, you want to get plenty of wear out of it. I personally think that jeans are worth spending that little bit of extra money on. Obviously if you’re not a jeans wearer then totally scrap this wardrobe essential.
2. T shirt
Do I need to own over 10 plain coloured t shirts? probably not but they’re all slightly different so I guess that makes it acceptable right? I love a good t shirt and they’re so easy to chuck on when you’ve woken up a little too late and need to get ready in 15 minutes. T shirts are a casual piece which can be worn with a pair of jeans and you’re good to go but also if you don’t end up wearing them out and about, they’re perfect for lounging around the house which is a win win, who doesn’t love lounge clothes?
3. Pretty Top
If I’m not wearing a casual t shirt, I’m wearing a cute pretty top. Its good to have an evening option in your wardrobe which is versatile and can be worn during the day but easily transitioned into an evening look. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a pretty top it could just be a smarter option, perhaps one you can easily wear to work as well as drinks in the evening.
4. Leather Jacket
Im pretty sure everyone and their mum owns a leather jacket and why the hell not? they go with literally everything. I have struggled to find a different jacket which does the same job and it just cant be done (in my opinion anyway). Honestly if you don’t have one, go and try one on when it gets into the winter months and see what you think. The best bit yet is that you don’t have to fork out hundreds of pounds to be able to get your hands on one. Mine is from Topshop and does the job perfectly.
I think this is one we can all agree on, having a little black dress in your wardrobe is a must. We all have a LBD or a dress that makes us feel a million dollars tucked away in the back of our wardrobe waiting to be worn. I have a few dresses which fit like a glove and always make me feel good. This dress shown is one of my favourite dresses I own. Its more of a casual number but can easily be transitioned into an evening piece and I guess that’s what makes the ideal LBD.
I never used to be a girl that wore a watch but since buying this beauty, I’ve worn it every single day without fail. I’m not going to lie, I feel slightly lost without it. The one great thing about watches is that you don’t need to spend lots of money, you can get really simple watches from ASOS for such a small amount of money. This one is from Casio @ ASOS and cost me about £30 – £40 which is pretty cheap for a branded watch and honestly it was worth every single penny, I love it!
7. Boots & Trainers
We all have a pair of shoes which we constantly wear because your in love with them but also they go with everything in your wardrobe. I am a shoe hoarder so I could have picked plenty of shoes to show you but a simple pair of black ankle boots and white trainers are my go to shoes. These boots are from Vagabond and were pretty pricey for a pair of boots but I think boots are worth the money especially because you’re likely to wear them a lot in the winter months, I mean we don’t have the best weather in the world. Trainers are my addiction and they’re always on my feet. These are a pair of Vans which I bought a few months ago and they go with most things in my wardrobe which is what you want from a pair of shoes. Basically for me a pair of boots and a pair of trainers are my main go to foot wear choices.
I hope this has given you some inspiration into thinking about what your wardrobe essentials are or inspire you to have a wardrobe re think and get rid of those pieces which get zero wear and we all have those.
